I first tried the Cytomax Sports Performance drink when I ran the Victoria Marathon in the fall of 2012. It was my first ever marathon. Although other experts’ literature has told me that I should not try any new dietary supplements and sports drinks in a race, I decided to give Cytomax a go anyways and I’m glad I did.
Since it was being served on the course at the Victoria Marathon, I was able to take advantage of the benefits of proper on-course hydration and nutrition without having to wear a fuel belt and carry a bunch of things with me during the long race.
I read the ingredients list when I attended the marathon expo the day before the race and liked what I saw. When I was running my first marathon, I knew I had nothing to lose and a lot to gain if I tried a supplement and it ended up working very well for me.
Cytomax is designed to effectively deliver energy to your working muscles. When you are taking part in an endurance event, especially for the first time, you risk “hitting the wall” a little too early. “Hitting the wall” is simply another phrase for “running out of energy derived from carbohydrates.”
In addition to the Advanced Carbohydrate System (ACS), Cytomax provides you with essential electrolytes, including sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Cytomax also contains amino acid peptide blend. It is sweetened with Stevia, which is a natural sugar substitute.
The drink helps delay the process of “hitting the wall”, in addition to fueling working muscles and helping you hydrate your body. The best way to use Cytomax is to drink it about 15 minutes before you start your workout/long race and then continue consuming it as often as needed throughout your workout.
One serving of Cytomax provides you with 22g of carbohydrates, 120mg of sodium, 60mg of potassium, 14mg of magnesium and 6mg of calcium.
What’s great about Cytomax is that it’s free of banned substances and it tastes really good. My favorite flavor is definitely the Cool Citrus. Whenever I’m doing a long run or a longer workout, I always have Cytomax with me.
In addition to the powder, you can also get the Cytomax Energy Drops . The energy drops taste great and help get you through your long run. Another great thing about Cytomax products is that they don’t taste sugary, unlike some many other similar products.
I definitely believe that it works because I’m finding that I have more energy to complete my long runs faster. Not only am I running faster, but I am also no longer experiencing that feeling as if my legs are tied to bricks when I do runs longer than 30km.
I’m also finding that I do not get any stomach cramps when I use the product. I love using it in races because I know that I need the energy to be able to run at a good pace.
Since the time that I have first tried Cytomax, I’ve done multiple runs which were longer than 30km. I’ve also ran the entire length of Vancouver Island, where I was running upwards of 30km most days of the week for about 3 weeks straight. Throughout all the big runs, I used Cytomax products.
If you are looking for a new sports performance drink to help you with your endurance endeavors, I definitely recommend giving Cytomax a try. It worked for me and I believe it will work for you too. 🙂
