Duncan, BC- We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new and unique running event, Dream Nation Apparel 24, aimed at raising awareness for mental health and supporting the Victoria Hospitals Foundation Mental Health Unit. This event will not only promote physical fitness, but also bring attention to the importance of mental wellness with a fundraising goal of $1 million dollars.
Taking place on August 12th at the Cowichan Sportsplex in Duncan, British Columbia, the event will feature sub-events of 3, 6, 12, and 24 hours. Participants will have an opportunity to come together, push their physical and mental limits and show their support for those affected by mental health challenges. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation Mental Health Unit, providing crucial funding for much-needed resources and support.
“The Victoria Hospitals Foundation is thrilled to be the recipient of the Dream Nation Apparel 24 Hour fundraising event. This innovative initiative embodies the spirit and dedication of our local care teams, and serves as a reminder that our hospitals are always there for us – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In our moments of need, each of us turns to our hospitals for healing. It is our responsibility to ensure they are prepared—for our loved ones, for our families, for us. It is the generosity of donors and fundraising events, like this one, that provide our hospitals with the resources they need to deliver life changing health care in our community.” Avery Brohman, Chief Executive Officer of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation
Co-race directors Yana Hempler, Ian Simpson, and Tyler Coell have a passion for promoting mental health awareness and believe that events like this can make a significant impact. The top fundraiser who raises over $8000 will receive a $1500 cash prize, and there will also be cash prizes for top finishers and top promoters.
Several sponsored draw prizes will be made leading up to the event, including a flight voucher from Westjet — the names of the first 75 people will be entered to win.
Registration is now open. With a cap of 300 participants, the event will also include a virtual race for those who cannot attend in person. More details about the event and registration can be found HERE.
Let’s come together to support mental health and make a difference in our community.
